A video installation about the loss of queer spaces in London installationvideotextile art My final project for the FdA Graphic Design degree show at Camberwell College of Arts. My central question that this piece was a response to was: where have all the queer spaces gone? What happens when the queer party ends at 3am? Where do we go?
Through interviews with queer and trans people projected onto an embroidered map of London, roughly onto where they took place, I explored how queerness is literally pushed out onto the margins of the city. I asked my interviewees: where is your queer space? What does that mean to you? This piece is indebted to José Esteban Muñoz’s work on queerness as a horizon that we aim towards.
